A Bit of Catching Up

Overnight it went from 65 degrees to 26 degrees outside.

We are not amused.

However, the weather was fine for the time we spent out of town last week.  We were blessed to have a condo on the fourth floor, with a view of the lake outside the picture windows that led to the deck. Need I say that nearly all of our waking hours were spent either on the deck or in front of the window?

I think not.

The time away was much needed after the passing of my mother-in-law.  Her funeral was the 31st of October, right before we were scheduled to leave.  While she will be greatly missed, we hold close the time we had with her and all the stories we have to tell.

She was a pistol, that one.  One of a kind.

Life continues, as it always does.  The Girl will graduate from nursing school on December 13th, and has already been offered two different jobs making much more than I ever have.  If nothing else, she will be able to keep us well in our dotage.  The Boy will transfer to a school out of town to complete his degree in January.  Our house may actually be...EMPTY...for the first time in 23 years!

I am looking forward to the change, and to possibly doing some long-needed cleaning and refurbishing.  Our bathrooms are hideous!  With the kids out of the house (at least for a while) we should be able to get them torn out and redone.

Then there's the dining room to paint, the office to paint, and so much to keep us busy we may hardly know they are gone.

Or not.

We may collapse in a heap before all is said and done.  As a matter of fact, we probably will.

At least we'll have a nurse in the family to help us up.
