"And then they all died..."

I'm thinking that the first writing project may have died a horrible, but timely, death.

I figure that if the silly thing is so confusing to ME, it will not make sense to anyone else.  All I have to do is write the line "...and then they all died." to make it reality.

In truth, it became a monster.  The dialect, the time, all the whowhatwhenwherewhy of it all got to be just too much.  So I did what any self-respecting writer would do.

I chucked it and started over.

At least I'm learning through this what DOESN'T work and what I'm NOT meant to write about.  Even if it sucks that I spent so much time on what turned out to be nothing, at least it had a purpose.

The new project is almost completely different in every way.  I found myself typing out this story, or the beginning of it, in nothing flat.  No worries about accents, no worries about the place or time.  We'll see how long that lasts.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the writing team is amazing!  They already have two weeks' worth of stories in the can and ready to print, which leaves me one very happy camper.  We have a meeting (with lunch, of course) on the 23rd to see where we've been and where we're going.

And in case you haven't heard, my sister's book is available on Amazon!  Yes, my sister is an author!  I'm so thrilled for her!  She's been working on this book so hard, and it's great to see it in print.  Rush over to Amazon and buy it!

I am catching up after being away from this machine for 14 whole days. I had stuff to do. Like live life. And laundry. Always the laundry. Anyway. I get what you are saying about writing stuff. I posted a link to some tips for writers a couple of days ago on Facebk, and they make sense. Just write. Anything. Then start over again. Read that list. It makes me feel normal!
