I Don't Do Hot Very Well

As those of you who have been around any time at all may know, hot and I don't see eye to eye.

Lately, we seem to have been thrown up close and personal with the heat wave that seems to have taken up permanent residence here in the Midwest of These United States.  And one of us is not a happy camper.

That would be me, in case you were wondering.

When I left work today at 4:40 p.m. and drove by the automatic digital thermometer sponsored by A Local Bank and pointed at the highway for my edification and supposed enjoyment, the reading was a mere 104 degrees.  It's been in the triple digits every day this week as I've wandered home.  Sometimes that's been as late as 6:30 p.m.

Tonight the dewpoint was 69% (whatever that means), and apparently when the dewpoint is high people with asthma have problems breathing.  I found that little tidbit out from my weather lady on Channel 5.

I also found it out by gasping for air the past two days and excessively pumping my inhaler like the scrawny kid with glasses who doesn't get picked to play on the baseball team until the very last, and then gets so excited that he has to take a couple of hits from his inhaler just to be able to breathe through the thrill of it all.  Only not really.

The LOW tonight is supposed to be 82 degrees.  I suggest we all meet at the bluff in our skivvies and shuck 'em all there and go buck nekkid skinny dippin.

WHO'S WITH ME???

I do not do excessive heat either, and your heat wave is news here in the good-old-freezing-cold-in-the-middle-of-summer-UK.
You have my sympathy. Feel free to arrive on my doorstep for some refreshing weather. The type which requires fleeces and jeans and socks. And a blanket when you retire to the couch with all the windows shut.

Sigh. It is a trial.
